Core Strategy

Following a recent visit from a representative of the Planning Inspectorate (PINS) to assess and advise us on progress on our Core Strategy, a note (pdf 56kb) has been produced by PINS to assist the District Council in the final stages of preparation of our pre-submission document.

Public consultation on the Core Strategy - Spatial Development Options 2009

The Council produced a Core Strategy - Spatial Development Options document for public consultation which took place between 6th July and 28th August 2009. The responses have been analysed and key findings from the responses were reported to the LDF Sub-Committee at its meeting on 16th December 2009.

Issues and Options Consultation 2007

Public consultation on an Issues and Options Paper took place in Summer 2007. This was the first stage of public consultation in the preparation of the Core Strategy. The full Issues and Options Consultation paper and representations received are available to read.

What happens next?

We will consider all the comments and ideas submitted within the consultation period and the results from the previous consultation in 2007. We will take these into account alongside other evidence and analysis as we develop the final preferred strategy for Wealden. Our current programme envisages a draft "Proposed Submission" version of the Core Strategy being considered by the Council's LDF Sub-Committee at its meeting on 7th July 2010. This will then be considered by a joint meeting of the Planning Committees North and South on 21st July 2010, Cabinet on 1st September 2010, and Full Council on 29th September 2010. The Core Strategy will be published for formal representations (over a six week period) in October 2010. It is expected that the Core Strategy will be submitted for examination by the Planning Inspectorate early in 2011.
