Private Housing Financial Assistance Policy
Private Housing recently began its Private Housing Renewal Strategy in August which includes a new financial policy for assistance.
To promote what we can offer to the private sector and to people who are on a low income, or disabled, or over 60, you may have seen a flyer (pdf 517kb) or a postcard giving information on how to contact the Council for further information
Assistance includes:
- Repairs to the home
- Adaptations to help people stay in their own home
- Help people keep their home warm over winter
There are 3 Types of Assistance the Council can offer, Decent Home Assistance/Decent Home Loan, Home Repair Assistance and Disabled Facilities Grants.
If you would like further advice on the Financial Assistance that is available, you can:
- Contact the Private Housing Section on 01323 443321
- Email the Private Housing Section at privatehousing@wealden.gov.uk
- Download one of our leaflets, which explains in more detail what the assistance covers and also who is eligible
You can also read the full Private Housing Renewal Strategy which has been produced to reflect changes in legislation and government priorities and to provide a comprehensive picture of private sector housing needs, issues and priorities for action over the next five years. The new policy was implemented on 1st August 2009
